re-posting a shot from the first few months in which I had an SL.  It looks a bit like Streetcar but it is from an Israeli play with strong labor/capital overtones.

This one scores well on the Winogrand criteria -- have all the critters in the picture looking at the camera, and take the picture without them noticing.

👍 Becomes more interesting the more I look at it. The beautiful colors are what first caught my attention followed by the quality of the bokeh. Then I noticed the odd but appealing alignment of the yellow flowers that pop right out of the background, and finally I see a fly on each of the yellow flowers. What a great shot.

Deema and her father, Salwan.  Salwan was a practicing cardiologist in Baghdad in 2003.  Subsequently, after many family members were murdered, he fled the country with his family in the middle of the night to become refugees in Jordan.  After several years he finally was granted status in the US.  Now, he works full time in informatics and studies several hours a night.  He is studying to take a series of grueling examinations which will make him eligible to enter a residency program all over.  After several years of that he will be eligible to start practicing medicine again in the US.  He wants his children to grow up safe, secure, happy and free.

A happy ending to a nightmare. Wishing him a big welcome to the USA. Rob

Two extreme macros of  a blossom on the SL with the Canon MP-E 65.  The magnification rat of the second is app. the maximum which is achievable with this lens on the SL - i.e. 5 times natural size and cropped a little bit in addition. That means, that in this size of the picture details are shown perhaps 100 ply of the size which we see it in the nature with our eyes. That is no calculated, just my feeling. Taking photos with this lens at such high magnification rate  is not the easiest task - but the excellent finder of the SL helps.
