The M10 is a purist photographic tool and so are the optically marvelous M lenses. The system calls for a competent user with patience and grace. I say so cause as much as I would to pick up my M10 and start manual focusing, and accepting the range of lenses more suited for usage are shorter in focal length and not talk about incorporating fill in lights....

On the other end, the SL system with native lenses cover wider focal length coupled with efficiency & convenience of AF, weather seal and having to change lenses less often and not to mention that the SL lenses do indeed produce more desirable images over the marvelous M lenses. Although one can say the M lenses are more characteristic but I personally see the pics produced by the SL lenses at a different level.

So instead of comparing both M & SL system, I’ve decided keeping both to complement each other allowing me to use the SL as workhorse and the M as my soul mate ( to forgive myself of shooting more out of focused shots,...but still love the gear).

i don't own either but recently spent hours at a Leica store trying both out, and this puts into words perfectly what I was feeling. The M10 is a heartbreakingly beautiful camera to hold and shoot, the SL gets the actual job done magnificently.

Mother's Day has come and gone, but the flowers for Mrs. WhippingPost have stayed a little bit longer.
