Now for some pixel-peeping.  I've been hearing rumors of exceptional clarity from the APO-Macro-Summarit 120/2.5 S, and I recently found a relatively affordable used one, along with the S to SL adapter.  Here's the view west from a hotel in the DC suburbs just after dawn this morning, wide open at f/2.5:

and a 100% crop of the complex of antennas on the left side:

It's no sharper and only a tiny bit contrastier at f/4, which may be due to a slightly different exposure:

and I hope you spotted the airplane on final approach to Dulles airport, 20 miles away:

Here a couple from unrestored Ming great wall I took last weekend with the SL and 24-90 (new, left other lenses home). Was greatly impressed with convenience/IQ (good) and size/weight (not so good). Getting the handle on using autofocus lenses on the SL (hand-held, no tripod more than made up for extra mass of lens).

Yes, exceptional optics on the S and SL (and just imagine the day Leica offers a sensor that approaches the resolving power of the S-lens(es) and, actually, the SL-lenses as well).
