Night stop

SVE 16-35mm @35mm

That's one of the classic Routemasters that run between Tower Hill and Trafalgar. Ride it while you can, I understand the service is being cut back drastically next month.

Beautiful full moon just rising, so I grabbed the SL, slipped the longest lens I have on, and took a shot or two.

SL with Hasselblad Variogon C140-280 @280, and at F5.6.

I didn't purchase the SL for astrophotography - I have monochrome CCD based sensors for this, but I couldn't resist a bright nearly full moon to try the SL attached to a small telescope. It was 14 degrees F outside. I didn't take the time to use a proper heavy tracking mount, opting instead for a light altazimuth head and tripod which were not very steady. The exposure was at ISO200 1/320 sec. I have a Nikon mount 2" nosepiece which attaches to the camera through the Novoflex LET/NIK adapter. The nosepiece end slides into the 2" focuser on the telescope, which is a 92mm (aperture) f4.8 apochromatic refractor. Mating with a 2X tele-extender gives a focal length around 900mm. The jiggle from the lightweight mounting was annoying, but otherwise the viewfinder with magnification was a joy to use on a bright subject. The camera seemed not at all unhappy working at this temperature for short durations (15-30 minutes.)

If clear tonight I might try my heavier German equatorial mount and a larger telescope.

I like your website, some truly amazing shots there!
