I'll be picking the Q up tomorrow - yikes! All the waiting has made it feel the way Christmas used to feel in days gone by.

 

I want to try out the grip when I'm in the shop and will pick up a Uv filter. Just one thing - did I dream it, or did someone say that the hood doesn't fit on when there's a filter attached?

I have a filter on mine and the hood so not sure where you heard that

 

The grip is essential for me, it improves handling a lot and makes it feel much more secure.

Why a UV filter on a digital camera, or is it just to 'protect' the lens?

+1  The hood definitely fits ('outer' threads) with a filter on ('inner' threads).  It might be more difficult to remove or install the filter with the hood on, however.
