presbyopia Posted October 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) A quick google of the word accoutrement gives the synonyms of 'equipment, paraphernalia, stuff, rig, outfit, and trappings'. It's all the things we forget to put in to the budget when justifying a new camera but loom as necessary once the camera arrives. Our selections likely say more about ourselves than the camera. For those still waiting on their Q, I thought I would share what I selected and how well it is working out. As a matter of pure dumb luck, I am delighted with the choices I made. ( There is a first for everything ) I purchased the Q with the idea that this would be a camera that I would use the heck out of and not baby. I did not want to give myself any wiggle room to leave it at home. For these reasons I made a few selections. For a case I went with the Leica Protective case. I wanted something that added the least bulk. It actually is working very nicely. The magnetic trap door on the bottom is nice feature. One needs to open the leather flap fully to achieve clearance for the camera battery access door to open. I like it. I considered Pelle and Luigi but the Leica protective half case ($167.20) is a pleasant surprise. This next item may be controversial. It seemed to me that the lens cover glass was almost flush with the lens front threads. Mostly for piece of mind I obtained a B+W 49mm XS-proNANO MFC ( $38.24). I also obtained the Leica anti-glare screen protector ($25) for the LCD. Again, it is working very well. Easy to apply and there is no compromise in clarity of the screen. Touch continues to work flawlessly. I realize that none of these items is a must have, but they give me piece of mind and I have been taking my Q just about every where. For a bag I selected the Domke F5-XAS small shoulder bag (olive color if you must know). It is very reasonably priced ( $59.99) and does what it is supposed to do. The size seems ideal for the Leica Q. I can fit the camera, micro-fiber cloth, mini Rocket blower, spare battery, a Whi-Bal card, and several SD cards. That's all I need from a bag. I did not care for the factory neck strap - maybe I did not give it long enough trial. I had been satisfied with the straps that came with my M9 and Monochrom but the Q strap didn't work for me. For a new neck strap I went out on a limb and sprung for the Artisan and Artist ACAM 310 Silk neck strap ($215) - never spent that much on strap, especially one I bought sight unseen. I am glad I did :-) Length fits me just right. Extremely comfortable to wear. Time will tell regarding its durability. All this is very individualized and subjective. This thread is not intended to push any particular solution. It is intended to give those waiting for their Q something to think about and reality check to add in to budget. Maybe one is considering one of the items above and not sure how well it works. The most important thing is to get out there and use the camera. There is much to enjoy !!! Perhaps others might consider listing the choices they've made and how they are working out. regards, presbyopia

Tiptop2000 Posted October 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2015 Great post, I'm just waiting for my Q and wondering which bits to get. Don't want to wrap it in cotton wool as I want to use it. That said I want to protect it as well.
