Louis Posted October 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2015 Ingrid, this is very nice. I have been thinking of a still life with walnuts for a while, but the problem is I can't find anywhere walnuts with their shelves!... Such a common thing so hard to find!!! So different with the good old life of villages!

gwpics Posted October 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2015 You bought back happy memories. I used to live next to Walnut Avenue which was lined with walnut trees. As kids we would throw sticks into the trees and knock the nuts, still in the green shucks, down. Mum would put them in a metal box until the shucks turned black and dropped off. We could then eat the beautiful white kernels, peeling the veneer off first. No taste quite like it. I can taste them now, so thank you for the memory. Gerry thank you for your personal story - i am happy always if i may bring the viewer to tell at a Walnut Avenue i have not previously lived as a child, which would have but certainly i liked - i have to wait until the tree drops its fruit, then cleaned and let it dry and now they are eaten slowly ....... delicious
