Gibbo Posted August 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since the new software, we still have a little issue regarding threads showing as having been read. If a forum shows that you have two threads not yet read and you go into either of them, on returning to the forum it shows both as having been read. Advertisement Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hi Gibbo, Take a look here Threads showing as read.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pop Posted August 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2015 I think you must refer to the notification box. This does indeed show that you have seen the notifications as soon as you return to it. I usually open all unread threads in what they call "tabs"; the browser I am currently using on the mac opens a new page when I hold the CMD-key (the pretzel) while clicking on a link. Safari also has a reading list which serves the same purpose. I then peruse each thread and then close the tab. That way, I don't have to remember the titles of the threads I have yet to read. Gibbo Posted August 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted August 27, 2015 What I am referring to is the little box to the left of a thread title which is highlighted with a dot in the middle of it if you have not read the thread. If you click on it, it takes you to the last post you read in that thread. If you have a post of your own within the thread, the dot is replaced with a star. This is still happening. jaapv Posted August 27, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2015 Are you using the "back" button in your browser? In that case the page does not reload.
Gibbo Posted August 27, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted August 27, 2015 No, I use the 'Back to xxxxxx' tab at the bottom of the thread
pop Posted August 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted August 27, 2015 Sorry, I can't make this happen here. I even detected the "go to next unread topic" which never used to work for me in the old one.
Gibbo Posted August 27, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted August 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I notice that Exodies reported the same problem in his thread entitled 'Bug in handling the blue 'unread' flags on the 27th June but has had no reply. pop Posted August 27, 2015 Share #8 Posted August 27, 2015 I now have tried to provoke the error on three different computers with two completely different browsers and have failed. However, Safari on the iMac forgets my name after a number of pages, and then the forum I return to does not appear to have any unread posts left. But as soon as a sign in again, the unread posts are clearly marked as such. Opera on the same Mac works well and quite a bit faster than the old Safari. Gibbo Posted August 27, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted August 27, 2015 I tried it again and it didn't happen I had a problem with my iPad today and the Apple shop reset it. Perhaps it was something to do with my iPad? I shall keep an eye on it, Philip, and report back if it comes back. It might be one of those irritating intermittent things I suppose. pop Posted August 27, 2015 Share #10 Posted August 27, 2015 I think it's quite possible that the problem occurs with Safaris only or with Safaris on iPads. Exodies seems to have had the problem with Safari on an iPad, too. Let's wait and see if it happens again.
Exodies Posted July 29, 2017 Share #11 Posted July 29, 2017 This still happens, but not all the time
