yes modo Posted August 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi allI should get my Monochrom (MM9 version) back from Leica’s Australian agent with a new sensor in the next few days. The original sensor was corroded.I’ve asked them if the replacement is the old generation CCD sensor or new generation and am waiting on their reply. I guess old generation since I haven’t read anything about the new generation sensor being available to the general public.Since this is the 2nd time I’ve had to send my camera in (1st time was for pixel remapping), I want to check it for any possible sensor related issues when I get it back, rather than discover any issues when reviewing my photos. How to do this? Take a photo at each ISO setting at certain apertures? Or take a photo at each aperture at certain ISOs? Should the photo be of a black or white scene? Thanks in advance

Chuck Albertson Posted August 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2015 On a sunny day (shouldn't think that wil be a problem in SYD), stop down as much as possible and take a picture of the blue sky, base ISO 320. Take a look at the picture in whatever software you use to process your images. My MM sensor has developed a couple of corrosion spots that only show up under those exposure conditions, not apparent with medium or larger apertures. carbon_dragon Posted September 7, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2015 How do you distinguish corrosion spots for just dust on the sensor? Is it just apparent dust that doesn't come off?
Chuck Albertson Posted September 8, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2015 Dust spots tend to be blurry circular spots, whereas the corrosion I've encountered tends to look like scratches on the sensor, with a border/edge around them.
