MR Meters

The MR4 just moved the "ON" switch from the left end to the top to avoid the rewind crank of the M4.

from repairing old ones it looks to me like the "4" version causes more wear to an internal sliding guide on the contacts as it causes some side-loading on it.

Either will be fine on an M2.

Just a tip - very often I find camera tops badly scratched from the meter. This is entirely avoidable because there are adjustment screws under the meter's shoe which can be set to create proper clearance between the meter and the body. Hope this helps.

I've seen prices for these all over the map from $25 to over $275 for the MR-4. Most I've seen for the MR-4 in near new condition are coming from Turkey or Japan...few here.

I sold this beauty for < $100! :(

I read at least one fellow that was quite disgruntled watching a friend take his meter off a nice M4 as he forgot how to take it off and scratched the otherwise fine looks of his camera. There's a secret to mounting/dismounting the meters from what I've read, so; I downloaded a manual of both the MR and MR-4 and if you follow the instructions it would appear to me it would be difficult to scratch the camera.

I saw more black versions of the meter than chrome, which is the one I'd want. They seemed more scarce for some reason. You're right, pico, that is a super nice MR-4.

  • 7 months later...

I bought a nice MR-4 meter and sent it to George at Quality Metric and the only thing he had to do to it was calibrate and clean up some corrosion. It's been spot on ever since.

This video will show you how to mount it without scratching the top of the camera.
