Playing around with the S2 and free-lensing the Canon EF 85mm f1.2L

Looks like there's enough image circle to cover the sensor, focussing is tricky, especially at f1.2 (I missed focus on this one and hit the eyelashes and not the eyeball) and it's not exactly flattering this close up - but I think it should be workable enough at either 3/4 length portrait length with a bit of practice. Obviously there's no infinity focus, but that's no biggie. Might be worth trying to get an adaptor 3D printed at some stage in the future...

Elk in field near North Bend, Washington.  We watched as this heard of elk jumped the fence to check out the field.

Can you elaborate on your process?

Thanks.

Sure - I literally hold the lens in front of the sensor with one hand while holding the body with the other hand. You simply move backward and forward to focus. If you get really good at it you can selectively blur parts of the image by tilting the lens - although I've never been able to make it work and look good, although f1.2 on the S2 sensor is crazy enough haha

Lovely (and highly under-appreciated) lens! And lovely capture.
