It's weekend and I finally get around to posting my first S007 shot here 🙂

I'm really impressed with the dynamic range, when I opened up this casual shot in Lightroom I could see the charcoal glow and at the same time the sunlight shining on the cornfields was not totally blown out, in fact the whole scene looked very natural to my eye. As a former CCD owner I was impressed, but just like others here have mentioned before about switching from CCD to CMOS, I struggle a little bit with the colours.

Not sure if I have posted this image before; I don;t think I have. It's part of a new project I'm calling 'Here Among the Flowers' which is an exploration of the 'anima' and a sort of rehabilitation of the male psyche/challenge to the current received wisdom of 'all men are evil' and smash the patriarchy etc. Anyway, fill your boots fellow men!

Christian - Here Among the Flowers by Greg Turner, on Flickr

There is a link on my website to the full project if you're interested.

Greg, my first thought was, "by feminizing them?"  But then I looked at the link in flickr and saw that many of the male figures are not feminine  It's an interesting project and I hope it gets some attention and traction, but popular opinion has it that males (especially older caucasian males) definitely are the reason that everything in the world is so f'd up right now.  I will be pleasantly surprised if the artistic community empathizes with your statement and embraces it.

Great shots, Michael!

I came across a pre-owned S100 last week, that I just could not pass up for the asking price. Your photos with the S100 encouraged me to go ahead, so, thank  you.  Rob

Is the 100 f2 worth the money? Is there much difference to the 120mm macro ?

I'm not sure how to answer in the context of "worth the money".

For me, as a hobbyist, the bokeh of the S100 is a bit different and and the size is more palatable, similar to the S 70.  The S120 gives one macro capability, is big, but is just outstanding.

Does it make sense to own both? I'm not sure,  particularly if one has the S70.  (This question might better be posed to ZHNL, or some of the others with more experience with use on the forum).  I'm enjoying both at the moment, and I just came back from a trip having used the S 120 on my Leica SL, and loved the results.

Even if I were to abandon the S system, I'd think that I'd keep both lenses for use on the SL (and SL2), as they are "that good" and so well priced on the pre-owned market at the moment.

Regards, Rob

Congratulations on your 100 mm, Rob! I agree the difference in FOV between the 70, 100 and 120mm may be close, but it seems to me that all three lenses draw an image quite differently, so they each have their own purpose I guess. And though I have the 70mm and the 120mm, I too lust for the 100mm because of its size and the beautiful way in which it draws an image, as your photos and - Michael's stitched landscapes - prove to me once again. Could you give us a ballpark figure of the price you paid? Some say autofocus with the 100mm is more difficult, did you find that to be true?

Thank you. I've not used the S100 for a great deal of time, particularly as we have had a bunch of rain this weekend (as my photos attest).

I'm using the S100 set to "A" (aperture priority) but with the MF focus in settings. I use the toggle button for quick focus, but will fine tune manually, and seem to be doing quite well with the focus accuracy.

I will send you a PM on pricing.

Regards, Rob

The always lovely Catherine at a local garden sculpture. Leica S007 with 140mm Contax Zeiss lens using the adapter. The camera was set to ISO 400, 1/125 at f/11. It is difficult to get a pleasing portrait when full sun hits the face so I was careful to use the sculpture as a shield. The picture is cropped to an 8x10 proportion in Lightroom.
