Leica S Image thread

Flattering crop choice. But then, I am a sucker for square (or near square) images. I still take out my Rollei 6008 6x6 from time to time. Nothing "square" about square.

You would like the Hasselblad format then :) :)

Hi, David, Thank you for your comment. Sometimes Square works better. I general would prefer 5X4, 4X3 to 3X2 Leica S format. For D850, I use 5X4 mode heavily for daily snaps.

However, in certain case, 3X2 S format is preferred such as stitch, usually 2~3 vertical frame will give you a 8X10 or square format at around 60M, I also like 2.35X1 or 16X9 format for cinematic view, and LEica S format is preferred as well in those cases.

120 APO S and S006 (S006 has the best file IMO once condition met.)

Hi, David, Thank you for your comment. Sometimes Square works better.

Cheers, mate. I just did a 12x12 show at the gallery where I show - all scanned and printed images from the Rollei 6x6. I like to think that I can detect an image that was cropped to square from one that is "full frame" square. The human eye does not "see" in square symmetry. Perhaps that is why it is a pleasure to take that box out from time to time - to see the world in a different way. There is an elegant balance presented by right angles with equal sides. Now that I think about it, I do not think I have ever cropped such an image away from square. I print with my venerable Epson 7800 which does very nice 24x24 images. I am staring at one right now.

As for your final observation about the merits of the 006, I could not agree more. I have always described it as the perfect camera for perfect conditions, Said the same thing about my M9 as well.

Happy shooting.
