Sandokan Posted September 12, 2017 Share #145 Posted September 12, 2017 I love returning to this thread. All are great portraits, keep them coming. Question though - are you really close to the models or are these cropped?
hoppyman Posted September 12, 2017 Author Share #146 Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) I love returning to this thread. All are great portraits, keep them coming. Question though - are you really close to the models or are these cropped? Hi Ravi. Thanks for looking. Most of my portraits/beauty shots here are shot with a 120mm lens on the S (about 100mm 35mm equivalent). I typically shoot half length to head and shoulders framing and then adjust a little with a small crop if needed .Sometimes to crop to 4x5 . I also tend to just place the single central AF point on her nearer eye and not then recompose. That's the most accurate for DoF. I normally include portraits/beauty shot sets in a fashion themed project. That's to showcase the talent of the hair and makeup folks for their portfolios/social media too. All of these sets are done with very close engagement and conversation with the model and involving the team previewing too. There are any number of BTS videos out there where someone is behind me with their phone. I am not handsome from any angle! ;-) Usually the party is behind me if it's a group and I miss out.
