imants Posted July 4, 2015 Share #21 Posted July 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Q already has 35mm and 50mm options, so you just use the 35mm setting and crop a little off. Take it further lets go 21mm and crop a bit off
Advertisement Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Hi imants, Take a look here 40mm version please. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
FrozenInTime Posted July 5, 2015 Share #22 Posted July 5, 2015 I want a 35mm lens so I can crop to 40/50/75mm
R99 Posted July 5, 2015 Share #23 Posted July 5, 2015 Cropping to 50mm by pressing a button but still having decent IQ. I absolutely don't mind.
aufderlauer Posted January 20, 2017 Share #24 Posted January 20, 2017 Me too I would love to see a 40-45mm version of the Q. Perfect one lens camera, and I am done.
eugenepresley Posted January 21, 2017 Share #25 Posted January 21, 2017 If the Q doesn't cost as much as a summilux or summicron lens, I'll gladly purchase another Q that comes in 50mm. It saves the hassle of having to swap lenses or running into sensor dust problem. You'll get dust on the sensor of the Q too. I had mine cleaned twice already. Leica Guy Posted January 28, 2017 Share #28 Posted January 28, 2017 There is no perfect camera. Perhaps the new ultra-thin metalens designs will greatly reduce weight and improve performance in the decades ahead. https://www.google.com/amp/www.techtimes.com/amp/articles/162962/20160604/new-ultra-thin-metalens-could-replace-bulky-lenses-in-cameras-phones-and-telescopes.htm?client=safari

Digital zoom, it's the future. Digital zoom is a waste of sensor and lens rendering. a 28mm cropped has the perspective of a 28mm, no matter how big your sensor is.
Guest Posted February 21, 2017 Share #31 Posted February 21, 2017 Don't knock it until you have tried it I have tried it a number of times. It's a crutch, not a solution.
Mr.Q Posted February 21, 2017 Share #32 Posted February 21, 2017 Digital zoom is a waste of sensor and lens rendering. a 28mm cropped has the perspective of a 28mm, no matter how big your sensor is. prk60091 Posted February 22, 2017 Share #33 Posted February 22, 2017 I have tried it a number of times. It's a crutch, not a solution. i notice that you have posted that you shoot in a 2.39:1 ratio. I am unfamiliar with that image ratio-- it is possible that the Q is not the proper instrument to take that image and from your experience it is not a solution. For general street photography the digital zoom is more than sufficient and is a solution.

I was not making a comment in relation to my search for 2.39:1 frameguides, but thank you for your thorough sleuthing. Digital crops are still not going to beat true optical resolution. They have been and always will be a crutch for those intents and purposes. Edited February 22, 2017 by Guest

PaulJohn Posted March 1, 2017 Share #39 Posted March 1, 2017 I find the 50 crop on the Q to be excellent considering: Pines in the snow by Paul Nadin, on Flickr So I would like a 50 which I think would crop up to 90.
BerndReini Posted March 5, 2017 Author Share #40 Posted March 5, 2017 Perspective has nothing to do with focal length. Sorry, a 28mm has the "rendering" of a 28mm, no matter how much you crop it.
