reynoldsyoung Posted July 2, 2015 Share #3 Posted July 2, 2015 It the red dot the same size at the M?
bernie.lcf Posted July 2, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 2, 2015 M (240) is larger (12mm) than usual and Q is the normal size (10mm)
d0c0m0 Posted July 7, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 7, 2015 The M240 dot is indeed bigger than M9. You can tell just by looking at the two dots. I bought a black dot from eBay for M9. I think it fits Q though I cannot be 100% sure.
screwmount Posted July 7, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 7, 2015 M240 has a larger dot, because it is superior over the M9. On top of it, it is even thinner! That's what I call technology!!

viramati Posted July 7, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 7, 2015 Personally a little black electrical tape is okay by me. The less advertising the better Welcome, dear visitor! geesbert Posted July 7, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted July 7, 2015 It is much easier to remove the Q's red dot than it was ever with any M, Warm the glue a bit by pressing your thumb onto it, it comes off quite easy with a little push. Any M has an opening for RF Adjustment behind the dot, not so with the Q, just a blanc. once removed I stuck it to a joghurt cup and spraypainted two layers. with a nail file I removed the plack paint from the text, as the silver is pure metal. Putting it back on was as easy, I didn't even have to use new double sided tape 7 Minutes work plus 1 hour drying time for the paint.
bernie.lcf Posted July 7, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 7, 2015 Oh, I thought you had just bought a spare from Leica. Thumbs up for the extra effort!
Surelythisnameisfree Posted July 24, 2015 Share #12 Posted July 24, 2015 I have black dotted mine and went the much easier route of buying a ready made one from Dag Camera Parts. I didn't mind the red but I do quite like the stealthy look of the black Welcome, dear visitor! digitalfx Posted July 24, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 24, 2015 Personally a little black electrical tape is okay by me. The less advertising the better DSC01667.jpg I dont understand why this is necessary...it seems to draw attention to the fact your hiding something. In 35 years of shooting with various Leica cameras, Ive never had more than a handful of people even recognize that I'm shooting with anything special, and have not had one camera stolen because of the red dot.
viramati Posted July 24, 2015 Share #14 Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) Maybe it makes a difference maybe it doesn't. I just don't like logos on the front of my cameras and have covered them up or removed them for over 40 years on all my cameras be it Leica, Olympus, Nikon, fuji, Mamiya, Bronica, Ricoh or Sony. it is also nothing to do with it being stolen or looking like a leica on this or any other camera. Anyway each to his own I say Edited July 24, 2015 by viramati

hkgmatt Posted July 24, 2015 Share #19 Posted July 24, 2015 Maybe it makes a difference maybe it doesn't. Anyway each to his own I say I'm exactly the same. I've always thought taping the logo attracts less attention. Now if I ever came across another photographer with taped logos, THAT would really attract mine.
mjh Posted July 24, 2015 Share #20 Posted July 24, 2015 Logos on cameras are commonplace but tape does raise my attention: What are these photographers trying to hide? Or would their cameras fall apart if one removed the tape?
