Lightroom 5.7.1 and M246

I am in receipt of an email today from Leica informing me about the issue with Apple iPhoto and 246 which I was aware of and don't use anyway.

The email advises to download DNG with LR 6.

I use 5.7.1 not 6 and have no interest in adding LR 6.

This is probably a stupid question but will I have a problem importing DNG files using LR 5.7 from 246?

Thanks

This doesn't make any sense. Life is too short to struggle with out-dated software. You're using Leica cameras and cannot afford a decent post-processing software? Sheesh ...

No, you won't. Lightroom 5.7.1 happily imports, displays, and processes the M Monochrom (Typ 246)'s DNG files. Still I strongly recommend to subscribe to Adobe's Photography Program which would get you Photoshop, Camera Raw, Bridge, and Lightroom for little money.

Have you used LR 6? At least the first iteration was really slow. We'll see about the update that dropped yesterday.

I am on Lr CC 2015.1 right now (i. e. the new version that came yesterday), and it's really quick. I feel it's even faster than 5.7.1 was ... although I didn't make any actual timing measurements.

I have all of those, in the latest releases before they went to subscription. As well as Dxo , piezogrsphy quad tone rip, and nil effex. It all works fine, and I have a tan code for 6. I am just not going to pay Adobe a monthly fee for a subscription I don't want or need.

The question was will what I have work , not what I don't have or to solicit opinions of why I should be getting them.

Your choice of course, but hope you're aware that LR6 can be purchased as a standalone upgrade for $79.  Lots of changes from 5.7….

I can have it free if I want. I have a Tan number from m246. I just don't want.

Then why did you say that you didn't want to pay Adobe a monthly subscription?

And, just out of curiosity, what's so special about 5.7.1?

You can use LR 3.0 to 6.0

Not much reason to "upgrade" to LR 6 as it hasn't improved speed and the only real advantage is stitching panoramas in DNG (instead of JPG/TIFF).
