Nice family at the park

A couple of swans in the park close to where I live had a chick, and I start to stalk them.

Last week I've see the two parents escorting the "kid" at the rapide, it appears that he spent quite a lot of time playing with the current...he was trying to swim upstream but the current always pushed him back.

The watchful vigilance of the parents at his side made them a perfect target, but it also made it tough to meter them, as they are white against a darker background, so i underexposed dramatically the shot, now the water looks deep blue. Unfortunately I also had just my Summicron DR so I couldn't shoot closer for obvious reasons.

However, let's talking and more shooting:

No need to get closer. This makes a nice composition.

The problem is that I would be needing a longer lens, usually I have a Jupiter 11 for these shots but not with me, anyway anybody use a Leica or in general a rangefinder for wildlife?

I started to stalk the Holy Trinity with a SLR with a decent zoom (sorry...no zooms for Leica M-4Ps...) and found out where the male is building a sort of lair...here there's a shot of the Lockness monster and the baby:
