I just got one of those noisy, bulky plastic things called a V-Lux. I decided to keep it and make friends with it. it's actually fun to use and it fills in a couple of gaps which I have using the Leica M system. There's not that many pictures shown from V-Lux in this forum, so feel free to do so ...

Flemming -

All the photos I've taken since late December have been with my V Lux 114, my other 6 cameras sitting idle.  So all my posts since then are V Lux.

BTW:  Go into the menu and turn off the sounds.  Once that's done the camera is very stealthy.

I use the 114 and print exhibition images up to A3 from it.

It performs as well as my recently discarded Olympus EM5 system and is a pleasure to use.

I've found that the Cactus V6  flash unit allows off-camera flash with most flash guns so that, for example, Canon and Nikon flash guns can be used at the same time controlled by the Cactus unit.

In other words, the 114 does whatever I want it to do in a quiet unassuming manner.

Nice picture Howard. You seem to have found your way with your V-Lux, and thanks for sharing your experience.

I mainly use my V-Lux when I am trekking in the forest. Compared to a DSLR with a big zoom it is surprisingly light and is not a problem to carry on a long walk.

Very impressive lens.  Looks like a real Leica  :p I say that tongue in cheek because I've had Leica owners tell me my V-Lux 4 isn't a "real" Leica.

Real or not real; it's still a nice and versatile back-up camera :-) I'm having great fun with mine...

Flemming Juul,

Like Stuart, I've been using and posting images with the VL 114 along with some other members. It's a fine camera once the user understands it.

  • 1 month later...

I've been enjoying the 600mm f/2.8 of the V Lux 4 immensely. Just checked out the 114 at my local Leica store and that's definitely on my list - I use my VL4 90% of the time these days!

Has anybody hit any of the rear switches by mistake when picking up the 114?

I know the body of the 114 is bigger than the VL4, which is great - every time I go to pick up the VL4, my right palm pushes the WB adjust quick button by mistake - then have to hit

the 'enter' button to get out of that mode and half the time the shot is gone by then...

My latest workaround is an el cheapo Chinese wrist strap that allows me to get the camera up to my eye without having to grip the camera too hard - and push the WB button in...

Looking forward to moving on to the 114 soon!

Chris,

I've had a problem with the VL 4 & VL 114 with the zoom/focus and on/off knobs on the lens barrel. On occasion I would change the setting by accident do to how I hold the lens. Totally my fault and not the cameras.

Here is a panoramic image taken with the VL 114 of Crater Lake in Oregon, U.S.A.
