summers_jm Posted May 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just placed a pre order for the new Monochrom on B&H. Has anyone who has placed an order from them received it? I see the cameras starting to trickle out into the wild from other vendors. Anyone have any idea how long B&H takes for new Leica's? Thanks! Advertisement Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Hi summers_jm, Take a look here M246 Preorder from B&H timeframe?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted May 28, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 28, 2015 Suggest you ask B&H about your specific pre-order.
Avatar Posted May 28, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 28, 2015 Traditionally, while BH is a great store with excellent service, they have never been one to get camera's fast.
summers_jm Posted May 30, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted May 30, 2015 Traditionally, while BH is a great store with excellent service, they have never been one to get camera's fast. Thank you. That was the type of answer I was looking for. My other option would be to buy from a dealer, in which case I would pay around $800 in taxes. I figure I can wait a little longer for the camera, and also use that extra money towards a lens. Thanks again.
algrove Posted May 30, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 30, 2015 There are Leica dealers in many states and they ship w/o charging taxes, at least the ones I've dealt with.
faranstudio Posted May 31, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 31, 2015 Getting them through local Leica dealers would be faster. Picked mine this week from Camera West in the Bay Area / Walnut Creek. New addition to the M's family. Welcome, dear visitor! algrove Posted May 31, 2015 Share #7 Posted May 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Every time I see the Noctilux next to the APO50 I am happy I kept my APO50. Saying this I understand the special features/uses the Noctilux has, as I have owned three various ones.
apertur Posted May 31, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 31, 2015 Hi, when switching on I see in the viewfinder "P320" instead of a time until I touch the release button on the M246. Have you seen same thing?
pop Posted May 31, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 31, 2015 My M (Typ 240) shows the selected sensor sensitivity when turned on. "P320" might refer to ISO 320 (pushed).
faranstudio Posted June 1, 2015 Share #10 Posted June 1, 2015 Yes, mine shows P320 as well.

summers_jm Posted June 6, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted June 6, 2015 Suggest you ask B&H about your specific pre-order. I did reach out to B&H and they said they should start shipping the end of June, first part of July. Just wanted to give everyone an update. Thanks! Pjay Posted July 1, 2015 Share #13 Posted July 1, 2015 B&H website still says 'Ship Time: Not available', but that should change VERY soon. My order here in Oz was placed 4th June, and in frustration I contacted the General Manager of Leica Camera Australia on 29th June, and the next day got confirmation that a second batch is on the way. Hopefully the OP will get his in the same time frame that I've been promised - before the end of next week :>)

Pjay Posted July 1, 2015 Share #15 Posted July 1, 2015 Do you know where you stand in the queue for the second batch? The small Leica Boutique in Brisbane has only been allocated two cameras, both of which will fill back orders. So there will still be no stock on the shelf. I've been promised that one of those back orders is mine :>)
summers_jm Posted July 1, 2015 Author Share #16 Posted July 1, 2015 I spoke to B and H last week and was told they were getting a shipment in on the 30th of June and that I was part of that preorder number. Being that it's the 1st of July, I called them today to see if they had arrived. I was now told that they did come in, but I am NOT on that preorder list. They are unable to let me know what number I am, and also cannot tell me when the next batch is due to arrive. Needless to say, the waiting continues. I also have a preorder in with Dan Tamarkin in Chicago.
fussgangerfoto Posted July 1, 2015 Share #17 Posted July 1, 2015 I've never had much luck with "pre-orders". Invariably, when I'm on a list, I hear nothing while some other retailer gets an abundant supply and has them in-stock for anyone with a willing credit card. Having said that, any lack of luck in that regard does not dissuade me from putting my name on a list. When the 246 was announced, I went on the list at L-S Miami and B&H, both of whom I purchase from regularly. Have heard nothing from B&H and just get bulk emails from LSM saying, "too soon to tell". As a cynic, I'd forecast that I'll get notice that my pre-order is in just about the same time as the camera is readily available everywhere. Pjay Posted July 1, 2015 Share #18 Posted July 1, 2015 I was now told that they did come in, but I am NOT on that preorder list. They are unable to let me know what number I am, and also cannot tell me when the next batch is due to arrive. Needless to say, the waiting continues. I also have a preorder in with Dan Tamarkin in Chicago. I feel your pain! Usually I find that being in a very small market and buying from a small shop is a disadvantage in terms of availability and price, but this time it might work the other way. Small market = small waiting list, so the shop where I placed an order only had one other back order to fill. Strange that B&H cannot indicate your place in the queue; that would not be hard for them to establish...
summers_jm Posted July 1, 2015 Author Share #19 Posted July 1, 2015 I thought it was also strange that B&H would not tell me what number I am in the que. They said that the information is confidential and on top of that, they also cannot tell me when the next shipment from Leica is due to arrive.
