steamboat Posted June 12, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) An apartment I use to live in got broken into while I was living there. The thief passed over two or three Leica-M lenses on my dining room table and took an old iPod and old Canon video camera. BTW, that is the most disreputable looking M8 I've ever seen. My M8.2 is showing brass but nothing like that. Congrats, Walter!! Edited June 12, 2015 by steamboat

Sailronin Posted June 13, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2015 Great story Walter. I've walked around some pretty dodgy parts of Fiji, Panama and Cairo with my M9 and no one even looks twice while a friend with a Nikon and large zoom was getting scoped out by many people. satijntje Posted June 13, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 13, 2015 (edited) The Lenny Kravitz M looks a beginner compared to these beauties! We should make a competition here, best Lenny M8 Award :-) Mine can compete but will not win :-( John Edited June 13, 2015 by satijntje
enboe Posted June 13, 2015 Share #7 Posted June 13, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I second the motion for the "Lenny" award for most-worn, most-used, dare I say, "ugliest" Leica. Cameras must be in operational condition and all wear must be attributable to actual use by photographers. Eric P.S. Why do I keep repeating in my head, "dodgy Fiji, dodgy Fiji, dodgy Fiji ..." Lax Jought Posted September 9, 2015 Share #12 Posted September 9, 2015 I had to take photos of the illegal animal (pangolin) trade.] How did that go? Mind if I ask who you were photographing for? Are the photos published? I'd take that assignment without a second thought.

jaques Posted September 10, 2015 Share #16 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) My house got broken into whilst I was alseep earlier this year - before the armed intruder woke me up he must have wandered around my house: the fridge door was open, and in the living room my glass coffee table was cracked- it seems the intruder picked up my M240 before accidentally dropping it on the table. I don't think he was expecting the weight and it slipped... Good news is he left it where it lay- perhaps having decided it looked too old to be worth anything. Also could have been that noise that woke me- which was lucky- as I was able to leap out of bed and kick my bedroom door into the guys face when I spied him looming there holding a large kitchen knife! Then he tried to steal my car- he already stole my keys- only it wouldn't start becuse the immobilizer fell off the keyring the week before! Ha Ha. He had to flee on foot- with the police not far behind. More good news: Bastard is living behind bars now- awaiting trial- which won't go well for him. Nice M8 story! Saved from a mugging by a bit of brassing! Edited September 10, 2015 by jaques
tobey bilek Posted September 11, 2015 Share #17 Posted September 11, 2015 Good thief story. Anyone remember the car jacker who tried to take a car from the shopping center lot, pulled the driver out, but he could not drive manual transmission. What a hoot.
