fotografr Posted May 10, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 10, 2015 The detail is certainly there, but I'd love to see this chicken photographed with a more elegant background. With a black background, this photo would become a work of art. That's an amazing looking bird.
Northwest Wanderer Posted May 10, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2015 Great detail.
thighslapper Posted May 10, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted May 10, 2015 The detail is certainly there, but I'd love to see this chicken photographed with a more elegant background. With a black background, this photo would become a work of art. That's an amazing looking bird. This was at neighbours gate on the way home from some test pics at our church ......... these are new additions which I haven't seen before (to add to their pigmy goats ) and I had to attract them by throwing bits of dirt and grass through their gate ...... they are a bit animated and getting any shot at all that was in focus whilst poking the camera through a five bar gate was a bit of a challenge ...... hence the crappy background ..... sorry ! platypus Posted May 10, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 10, 2015 At first I thought "what an exceedingly grumpy expression that little chook has"....but then I read that you fed them bits of dirt and grass! No wonder it looks so disillusioned! Actually I love this image, it has more shades of grey than that book and all the detail one could possibly want....plus I really do like exotic poultry. Maybe if you added a judicious bit of vignetting to de-emphasise those slightly distracting and unneeded corner bits....just a thought.

I apologize if my comment sounded like a criticism. I completely understand that you had no control over the background. I do like both photos regardless. The image quality from the new MM is exceptional. Combined with that lens it's as good as it gets.
