Louis, Stuart, Bill and Brent thank you for taking the time to look and comment, much appreciated as ever!

 

Brent, I knew the coloured bar at the bottom of this shot would not work for some.....I did consider cropping,

but in the end left it there because I thought it added a sort of mysterious abstraction to the image. Too arty?

light is like on those ancient Dutch stillife paintings. Nice arrangement of leaves too. I think the bar is important for the balance and the direction of the picture. If it is missing the black background will make the arrangement float. Thanks for offering this discussion...

Iduna, thank you for your interesting comment. So we have two completely different points of view!

I can certainly see what Brent is getting at and he has a point... but, if I were doing this again I would

still leave the bar in....I think it adds to the image in some way that I can't exactly describe. Anyhow I

must admit to suffering from a great reluctance regarding cropping anything, ever.... call me old fashioned!
