Advertisement Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Hi stuny, Take a look here Early Wednesday's thin sliver of a moon. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted April 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2015 Very nice. What is "Intelligent Zoom?" I've never used it.
stuny Posted April 17, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted April 17, 2015 Brent - Thank you. Go into the menus (I think the one when you're in record mode) and turn on Intelligent Zoom -- I leave mine on all the time since I only invoke it when zooming beyond the optical 400 limit. That expands the long end of the zoom to the equivalent of 800mm. It apparently does some sort of interpolation which keeps the quality up. You'll see in the viewfinder when the zoom range expands into the "intelligent" section, as it passes through the 25 to 400 mm optical zoom.

fotografr Posted April 18, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 18, 2015 Thanks for the explanation, Stuart. I'll have to give this a try. I had assumed it was just a digital zoom, the quality of which has never impressed me.
