On page 163 of the X Typ 113 instructions manual it is stated that the X allows for the use of WiFI memory cards like the Toshiba FlashAir.

Is the ability to turn on/off the WiFi solely for the FlashAir or will it also work with Eye-Fi cards?

I have a 4GB card and would love to use it for this function. :)

Also, is there a way to shoot in full sized DNG and the smallest JPEG? As social media sites like Facebook restricts photos to no more than 2MP I may as well just resize in-camera rather than send a 16MP to save on power & time.

I have a type 107 which I know is not a type 113, however, it appears to have the same menu option and reference to a flashair wifi capability.

I had been using an eye-fi card prior and tried it after acquiring the X Vario. The menu selection will not control the eye-fi card. So I did some research and also learned that they work a little differently. I was using the eye-fi to upload images to my nearby laptop. The flashair II doesn't push images but rather presents a wifi access point and webdav folder to view or move the images.

How to add Wi-Fi to your dSLR - CNET

A 3rd party application for ios called shuttersnitch will pull the images and upload..

ShutterSnitch - Features

I don't have shuttersnitch yet but like having the discrete control of the flashair from the menu.

I can't speak for choosing a smaller jpg size along with dng.. I will check later.

Best Regards

I just ordered the Toshiba FlashAir card from B&H as its on sale, but heard that it can transmit the full DNG files through PhotoSync, so I am sure smaller files will work as well. I went with the FlashAir as its functionality is built into the X and X Vario, and seems similar to the wifi function of the T that was very useful. Too bad leica doesn't have an app for the X cameras as well.

Other than the built-in evf I think wifi' date=' nfc and 4k recording would have been awesome to include in such a beautiful camera.[/quote'] Actually I'm happy none of those are included. They would have bloated the camera with features most are not using. The evf thing I'll agree with 100%. But that's about the only gripe at this point.. //Juha

Having built-in wifi/nfc would appeal to the 1.3 billion smartphone users who got their new devices in 2014.

They could bypass a computer and share their better image quality images from the leica on the Internet in seconds. It would also allow for remotely controlling the Leica.

The company will not survive solely on their current customers only. It will prosper with new customers like myself who largely expect these things.

Why buy a point and shoot if one has a smartphone? [emoji4]

4k video is like a bottom consideration but is useful considering 4k displays are expected to be as plentiful as 1080p displays sold today but at a shorter time span.

Agreed 4k video will be a thing of future for sure, but the current generation "internals" wouldn't most likely have the power to handle it. Next generation maybe.. Also most users home computers currently can't really handle it either, screen or the cpu. Thus it wouldn't have been much more than a tickbox feature..

As for wifi, they could just make a deal with toshiba and bundle in the wifi sd-card and be done with it. We have the menu & functionality for it already. At least advertise it a bit to make sure the youngsters know about it.

Sounding a bit sceptic, but the less electronics & advanced features we get in the camera the better. It's not Leica's forte.. Panasonic models etc no sweat, the japanese guys know what they're doing. Thus the D-Lux can be the IoT generation device.
