Lens cap for 75/2.0 Asph APO-Summicron with filter

Hi

I have the new 75/2.0 Asph APO-Summicron (with the collapsible hood). When there is a filter on the lens (polarizing, skylight, ir-cut - anything) the lens cap does not attach. Anyone recommend some kind of third party lens cap so I can toss the camera in my bag without risk ?

No such problem with my 75 APO , filters ( B+W and Hoya ) and Leica 49mm 14001 cap.

Most normal depth filters will accept pinch type lens caps while some thin filters come without thread to allow use of pinch caps, these are served by push on type and good filter brands have such caps.

 

Thin filters are designed to minimise vignetting on wide angle lenses and have no real advantage over normal filter on long lens such as 75mm.

+1. The clip-on 14001 lens cap fits well my 75/2 apo and Leica 49mm filters.

Thanks everyone.

It is the pinch style cap that came with the lens. I was trying with a thin filter (it was laying around), so that would explain it. I'll stick to thicker filters.

You could measure the outer hood diameter and look for a push on cap which fits over the hood (auction site?).
