Peterborough's Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice co-organised a 'Photography Workshop' today in the gardens and hall with all proceeds donated to their funds.  I volunteered to demonstrate long focus lenses and let visitors / attendees use their cameras via adapters with my 1972 vintage Leitz 800mm Telyt S and Canon FD 500/4.5 in the gardens. Whilst I was demonstrating, approx 70 metres distant on the hall balcony, one of the volunteer models was posing for  a group of photographers. After quickly adding a 2x extender to the lens we commenced photographing the model - from 70 metres - using the now 1600mm lens at a set f8 aperture = f16 with the 2x extender. Not the usual type of lens for model photography but we enjoyed he experiment. The visitors had not seen a similar lens previously and thus asked many questions about it … and were amazed at its 'long distance' capability. I've no idea who the model is … we were too far away to ask her name!

Wasn't about sharpness … it was just giving attendees the opportunity have a bit of fun and be a 'paparazzi photographer' at long distance. Sharpness is not everything.
