i think you can only do this in jpeg mode with zero saturation - raw will always be colour

The B&W JPGs out of the M8 are excellent, many users look no further.

However, if you want some control over the result shooting DNG and converting in postprocessing is the way to go.

pf, welcome to the forum.

SET menu COMPRESSION> jpeg fine (OR basic as you wish)

MENU > Color Saturation > Black & White

MENU > Save User Profile > Save as (Choose or reuse a profile number)

Please show us your first successful black and white using these settings.

There are other refinements possible in the Menu.
