I don't have any problem with it locking up, no problem with dead pixels or battery life. Oblivious to corrosion of "sensor" or scratched display

 

Firmware not updated, but it seems to tick along as God (Leica) initially intended it to. No micro-lenses or software to reduce vignetting, not able to pixels-peep to tell how bad my photos of potted plants are. not had rangefinder calibrated annually to hyperfast lenses, so I can't shoot wide open _all the time_ (you know; b/c bokeh).

Yes, I have the same non-problems with my film Ms, but then I just dropped of six rolls of film at my favorite pro-lab for processing and high-res scans because I don't have a full day of time to spare to do the scanning myself. And I paid what could have bought me a new camera bag.

Yes, I have the same non-problems with my film Ms, but then I just dropped of six rolls of film at my favorite pro-lab for processing and high-res scans because I don't have a full day of time to spare to do the scanning myself. And I paid what could have bought me a new camera bag..

As a Wall Street lawyer with 3 young kids, that's what I once thought.......

 

One thing is for sure, though: if you can't take the scanning workflow in-house (or learn how to print yourself), your film photography workflow will have a hard time getting off of the ground.

 

With a Nikon Coolscan in my home office, I honestly can't tell you that I spend more time with my film workflow vs my digital workflow with my M9 and MM RAW files.

I own a Canon FS-4000 and an Epson 750. Loading the holders alone is a real pain, let alone spotting black and white negatives. I get large Noritsu scans done by Richardphotolab for black and white. They handle shadow grain much better than any home scanner. Color, I have them do with a Fuji Frontier. I do print on a 3880 and I use an Eizo monitor. As far as the kids, I'm talking less about the time rather than the amount of images I shoot. A birthday party at a park is either 100 shots on an M9, which I'll edit down quickly to 20 photos for friends and family, or three rolls of film to deal with.

 

I shoot everything from 35mm to 4x5, and I almost bought an 8x10 Deardorff for Christmas, but reason set in before I pulled the trigger. I shoot an average of one roll per week these days and I usually just pay to get it done right the first time. I just really don't have the time and patience to deal with processing and scanning myself right now and at least I do have great labs here in LA that will do a fantastic job at a price.

I have those same scanners and the same issues with them. I have a lot of money tied up in digital cameras and don't shoot enough film to justify buying another scanner, and unfortunately there aren't any decent local labs here anymore. My film cameras are in perfect shape and frankly I couldn't have cared less if digital photography had never been invented, but it did and my favorite c-41 and E6 emulsions are discontinued along with Kodachrome, the cost of the remaining ones went way up along with the cost of processing, and digital killed the local pro-quality labs here, so for me it is what it is.

I thought that the more contrasty and saturated photo was after the Photoshop jiggery pokery. I like that one better! Or are we getting mixed up?
