D-lux flash on M?

The new D-lux (109) comes with a very neat little flash that takes charge from the camera itself. Just enough to light up the foreground in difficult light, see examples here:

Wouldn't it be great if this flash could be used also on the M (and even the S, although the lens would probably cast a shadow on the S) - any idea if this could be done in a firmware upgrade?

Not possible as the mini flash that comes with the new D-Lux draws its power from the camera battery. The hot shoe on the D-Lux has four control pins plus the centre pin. The M series has three control plus centre pin. Presumably the extra pin on the D-Lux supplies the power.
