It doesn't get much use (2 films this year) as I'm not really a 50 kind of guy, but I was lulled into purchasing it by its beautiful swirly bokeh. I took it with an aperture in the middle between f/1.4 and f/2.0.  Welcome, dear visitor! lct Posted December 18, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted December 18, 2014 Got some swhirly bokeh at short distance with the 50/1.4 pre-asph but not in the background contrary to the 50/1. I would try a Summarit 50/1.5 or a Summitar 50/2 preferably. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I found comparable bokeh and center sharpness at f1.4. I had more keeper shots with the Summilux. I had used and tested them only on M film cameras. Does the pre asph summilux give a similar look, if less pronounced?Pete   If you're looking for the swirly bokeh, the type 2 summilux 50 will deliver  If you have an M240: (use the EVF/LV)  - Zeiss Biotar 58/f2 or Zeiss Biotar 75/1.5 - they also deliver swirly bokeh in spades. These shots were taken with the 58/f2:     - Cheaper but heavier option : the Russian Helios 40 or Helios 40-2 (85mm f1.5)  - Last but not the least, look for a Leica Summarex 85/1.5 which will also give you swirly bokeh  PM me if you're serious about selling your Noctilux f1, I can never have to many of these Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
