Bald eagle at a local lake. This bird seems to favor a broken pine tree as a perch. I can count on it to be sitting on a limb of this tree when not fishing for salmon.

This is interesting because it depicts the eagle "in the landscape".....he blends so well with the colours and form of his chosen tree, it's a beautiful portrait.

I found it rather thought provoking too, obviously eagles, unlike lesser birds, don't perch in groups but tend to be solitary or at most in mated pairs.

Your eagle images have had the effect of making me more aware of the habits of the pair of wedge tails that reside in our valley...spin on effect!

Glad you enjoyed this image Dee.

Eagles mate for life, so pairs are common to see. They don't always hunt for food together and sure don't share food, They do (both) find and provide food for their young.

That's nice you are getting interested in the habits of your resident birds.
