pauledell Posted December 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2014 Dee, A fine shot but rather serious with the results. I hope you have a rubber raft and life preserver. Can you get where you want to go? Paul
newnew Posted December 8, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 8, 2014 Nice capture of the forces of the nature but also the special light they bring on the scenery.
Iduna Posted December 8, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 8, 2014 Dee, quite a dramatic situation and the picture is showing the full story when studying the clouds and their impending color and the whirl on the right. nice fine details and a fine compsition.
platypus Posted December 8, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted December 8, 2014 Paul, Ali, Iduna....thank you for your comments and thanks to those who looked...and then hit the "thanks" button.....all much appreciated! The situation is not serious!! merely inconvenient. The river level drops after a few days, leaving a mess, trees, branches and stuff, to be cleared away....just a nuisance. The creek crossing is more serious but we can crawl across in 4WD for the time being. We are quite used to being cut off by this sort of flash flooding and make sure retain adequate stocks of consumables against the possibility of it occurring. This amount of rainfall at this time of the year is such a blessing!

Thanks also to those that hit the "thanks" button recently. I am delighted that you all appreciate this image, the combination of our beautiful Monaro high plains landscape and a good big storm cell is amazingly powerful...it's a great opportunity to which I always hope to do justice with my photographs. Bill.....I'm pretty sure the MM and APO 50 combo help with the above!!
Bill W Posted December 15, 2014 Share #14 Posted December 15, 2014 Dee, Lots of folks can afford an MM and APO 50 but not everyone can use them to their full potential which you do. Keep up the great work.

fotografr Posted December 18, 2014 Share #16 Posted December 18, 2014 On the other hand, those storms do provide you with some powerful moments to turn into spectacular images like this, which I nearly missed seeing by not checking in here enough. Glad I caught it.

MarkP Posted December 19, 2014 Share #19 Posted December 19, 2014 Another wonderful landscape Dee. No such scenes here in Sydney! That lens is starting to tempt me but I'm not really sure whether I want another 50, nor do I want to sell the Summilux.
platypus Posted December 19, 2014 Author Share #20 Posted December 19, 2014 Thanks Mark....maybe you will be able to get out of town these coming holidays...and find yourself somewhere in the Great Australian Landscape with your Leica gear?? After my new little 28/2.8 arrived last week I caught myself thinking that the next thing I'd like would be a 50 Lux....you see it's hopeless! I'd be prepared to bet that you have acquired an APO50 by this time next year.
