CheshireCat Posted November 27, 2014 Share #2  Posted November 27, 2014 I find an evaluation for second hand lenses A , AB , A+ ... but I have no idea for the meaning  Like teachers, the evaluation really varies depending on who is doing it. Better to worse: A+, A, AB, B, BC, C, ... et cetera.  .. I am looking for a 75 summilux :-)  Same here

jaapv Posted November 28, 2014 Share #6 Â Posted November 28, 2014 But beware. Except for trusted dealers, who tend to be conservative in their ratings, eBay and other Internet venues tend to use these qualifications umm.. flexibly, with a strong tendency to inflation... LocalHero1953 Posted November 28, 2014 Share #7 Â Posted November 28, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Too late now for the OP but I would be cautious of any of these ratings, which (like Exc, Exc++ etc) are dealer-specific, subject to grade inflation, and designed to make you think you have a kindly dealer who is giving you objective information. Â My response is usually to ask for a description of the item, explaining the optical, mechanical and cosmetic condition in plain English.

thighslapper Posted November 28, 2014 Share #10 Â Posted November 28, 2014 These gradings vary enormously from dealer to dealer and those on ebay etc. are hopeless. Within the same dealer they are fairly consistent though. Â I have bought a lot from Leicashop in Vienna and everything has been better than graded ... items advertised as A and even A/B would have passed as mint to my eyes ..... but there again they are not the cheapest .... Â Agreed - I've had similar experience with them.
