My samples of DL 109

It was a cold and dark day in Washington DC and area! As I have done for the last 15 years, I went to the Washington DC Zoo to test my new camera! Most of these shots are from indoor, where it is even darker than a dark day!

I must say, I was very nicely surprised. It has a better IQ than everything I have read from some self-appointed "experts"!... At least, they are very decent for my taste!

These are from RAW files and the PP is really the minimum!

Thank you, West!... Not only thick glass, but also very dirty and often foggy! :)

Great stuff Louis, very impressive. :) I'm glad you found a camera you like,it will give you even more creative power. It will take a little while before it becomes as familiar as your beloved Dlux5, onward and upward. Regards Tony.

Louis, I am new here, I have seen these images here and on DPR, for some reason they look so much better here... they look good there as well.... I have been following both the LX and D-Lux to see what will be my choice if either but from what I see and with a camera made in Japan and with the added warranty I am leaning heavily in the direction of Leica. Thanks for posting these, they are some of the finest images I have seen come out of this camera, much credit needs to go to the photographer.

Joel, much appreciated for your positive feedback here, and there...! ;)

I hope you would enjoy the camera as much as I do, whichever would be your final decision!

Good luck, my friend,

Lovely shots, Louis, and your pictures show that the D109 is going to be a very good camera!

Mine's in hand and the battery's charging … hurry up hurryuphurryup!!!:D

Pete.

Pete, you will love it! It is a worthy successor to the D2 in my opinion.

Louis - I am delighted you've bought this camera. You're one person who I can see taking full advantage of what it has to offer.

(BTW -I've bought one too!!!)

Dear Shahrookh, thank you very much! I just couldn't resist it although it can't keep me company at all time!... But I really needed to upgrade my DLux with a larger sensor!

How wonderful that you got one too. I hope you are going to enjoy it as much I do; but I guess you are too blase with all your Ms and Ts! ;) That said, I can't wait to see your shots with 109!

It's good to see that you are enjoying the camera. I've finally got mine too, and have taken a grand total of 15 photographs so far! The build quality and handling are great, and unless there's something unexpectedly awful from the image quality (which I seriously don't expect) I can see that it'll be my "go to" camera for most occasions unless they really demand something different - much less of a compromise than other compacts with smaller sensors. I've plans to use it again tomorrow and then I'll take a look on Lightroom and see what I've got :)

Jon, it is a great camera and your excellent photos prove it! :)

But I find the manual very confusing and there are still lots of function that I do not know! It is so annoying to jump pages for each information instead of putting all the explanations together for each function!...
