How are you going to take your Leica D-lux 109?

Do you need to take of the neck strap?

Is there any protection on the back side?

Can you mount the camera on a three-pod?

How is it fitted to the camera?

You don't have to take of the neck strap to take it of. There are two snap fastener around the neck strap that hold the cover in place. Protection on the back side is better than the Gariz case.

And no you cannot use a tripod while the case is on.

Cheers, Bernd

For those that are interested, I just received the Gariz half case and find no difficulty at all in opening the battery door and changing out the battery and/or the sd card without disturbing the case in any way. The case gives a nice front grip and seems to work well. I have no idea if their "gunshot" strap is a good idea or not, but the case comes with a fastener which I assume is used with the optional strap.

Please......

Could someone show a picture of the camera with the Leica halfcase seen from behind?

Berndt claims it gives a better protection than the Gariz and I want to know before ordering.

Thanks

hi Erik,

D-Lux 109 leica protector vs. GARIZ half case

GARIZ plus points:

when changing memory cards, battery change and tripod use has not helped the case to be removed.

my XVario is equipped with the leica protector. this protector I replace the GARIZ half case, since much more comfortable and perfect build quality.

best regards

Just out of interest - with the Leica full case, can't you leave the wrist strap over the side of the case when the camera is inside? I have a strap and it has about 5cm of thin cord before the actual leather bit (like the Gordy straps) so could you not just push the wrist strap over the end of the case and let it hang there. Not pretty but would work.

What options are there? I've been using a 'Crumpler Base Layer camera case M' for mine and there's actually enough room to put the flash or a spare battery in the lid of the case but I don't find it particularly attractive or pleasant to use.

Pros are that it has a belt loop and comes with a shoulder strap and the wrist strap tucks inside.. so there's room for the shoulder strap too.

Cons are that it looks a bit rubbish and not the 'Leica' feel.
