A$515,500 "Buy it now" for an EbayLeica IIG, etc.?

Ebay Australia item 251704549153 is described as a IIG S/no. 825003, Summarit 1.4/50 S/no. 1702937, plus Leicavit.

At a price of A$515,500 , can anyone offer any comments?

says, there never was a IIg Version.

From time to time there occurs one.....

The asked price, ten times higher than the last time offered, is a bit over my budget, so I don't mind:rolleyes:.

 

But all in all there are three price offers by interest at the time.

 

And a srew mount Summilux would be a dream too....

And according to the serial number it is the 3rd 'g' ever produced. Unless the seller is an idiot, such things are put on Westlicht, not ebay.

 

Unlikely enough that although the same seller (apparently) has some nice camera cases for sale, I kept away. Something doesn't smell right.

Hello Everybody,

 

In his book "Leica 60 Years" Rogliatti has a photo of Leica IIg number 825001.

 

The IIg APPEARS to be the same as a IIIg EXCEPT it does NOT have a slow speed dial on the front of the body.

 

Where the slow speed dial should be there is a small raised portion covered with a Vulcanite patch.

 

Rogliatti said there were about 12 or 15 of the IIg's made.

 

It might be be interesting to see if there is a IIg in the Official Leica Tree.

Thank you Duckrider, I didn't remember my query on its' appearance last year. Always wanted to live to a "ripe old age", but a failing memory doesn't help. It'll be interesting to see if the future "Buy It Now" price deletes the first 5.

This bloke seems to be a "comedian".

 

It's back again on the same sales site (sorry, I can't find an item no.), at A$189000; though this time with a collapsible Summicron s/no. 13523?? (couldn't read the last couple of digits).

 

Gee, I wonder if I had bought this at the originally listed price of $50 odd thousand, he would have bought it back at a profit? Strangely, I think not .

Lager "Cameras" repeats essentially the same information.."Occasionally a IIIg is seen without a self timer or slow speeds thus identiying it as a IIg. The designation is unofficial. Nevertheless, camera 825001 without self timer or slow speeds resides in the Leica Family Tree"

For information, I see the Summilux earlier fitted was sold a few weeks ago for A$2104.

The camera plus Summicron has now been re-listed without change to the price.
