What is your experience? I looking for a vintage 50 lens on my M240. Thank you:)
Advertisement Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hi sife71, Take a look here Leica M240 and Nikkor 50/2 LTM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted August 21, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted August 21, 2014 I've tried on on the M9, but prefer both the handling and image of the late (black & chrome) Canon 50 f1.8.
Ecar Posted August 21, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted August 21, 2014 Nice lens if you are after a marked vintage look and like the Sonnar rendering. It won't break the bank. However, check the lens carefully before you buy - I have seen a couple of samples suffering from separation. I'd also set funds aside for a professional CLA. For a lens of that era (my copy is from the mid-fifties if I remember well) sharpness is good at f/2, and very good from f/2.8 on, although bokeh is somewhat underwhelming (ie, a bit harsh IMO) for a Sonnar design. In the same price range, the Canon 50/1.8 provides a crispier, more modern look. The Nikkor H-C 50/2 looks more like the (expensive) Canon 50/1.5, if that makes sense. Other expensive Leica alternatives are the Summitar or the collapsible v1 Summicron.
