ns_ng Posted July 22, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 22, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) This temple is located in the Mingsha Shan Park, about 6km from Dunhuang. This park is a touristy place as visitors by the thousands come to climb the sand dunes, ride the camels and visit the various sites. This is part of the Gobi Desert. M240 w/90 AA. Michael Hiles Posted July 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2014 A beautiful picture. It is interesting, well laid out, effectively uses the lovely greyscale and is technically top rate. Worth looking at closely.

Worth looking at closely. Thanks Michael. I had to wait for the sun to drop a lower angle to get enough light onto the surface of the sand dune behind the temple. I knew this had to be in b&w as the colours were quite weak. I tried to maintain that smooth greyscale and not to dial in too much contrast on the sand dune. stuny Posted July 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 23, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I showed this to Barbara, and she loved it so much that she's thinking of moving a visit to Mongolia and the Gobi higher on our list. May she contact you with questions?

ns_ng Posted July 23, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted July 23, 2014 I showed this to Barbara, and she loved it so much that she's thinking of moving a visit to Mongolia and the Gobi higher on our list. May she contact you with questions? Hi, Dunhuang is in China not Mongolia. The Minsha Shan or Echo Sand Mountain is part of the Gobi desert. Dunhuang is a historical and touristy city. The western most section of the Great Wall is located near this city as are the Mogao Caves which contain Buddhist arts spanning a period of over a thousand years. Sure, she is welcome to contact me..
