fgxd2009 Posted July 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I borrowed a M9 from a local camera shop in BEIJING and took some pictures, but I found that the picture number is “L56599XX”, and the folder’s name is “565LEICA”, how did this happen, that means there were 5000000 more pictures *had been taken by this camera! I am so*curious about this and what is the answer?
Advertisement Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Hi fgxd2009, Take a look here question about picture number on M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 22, 2014 The file numbering has nothing to do with the number of images taken with the camera. It can easily be changed by inserting a SD card with a different base number.
DigitalHeMan Posted July 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 22, 2014 If you want to find out exactly how many shots the M9 has made, you can download the free software M9info and load one of the dng files into it.
250swb Posted July 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 22, 2014 Take image number “L56599XX”, look in the EXIF file for the Unique Image ID number, put the last characters of this into one of the many free hexadecimal converters available on the internet and this will give you the true number of shutter actuations the M9 has made up to that point.
