Zoom Madness: XV v X-E2 and Tri-Elmar on Monochrom

I was out last week with my old friend Don Morley, the renowned international sports and war-zone photo-journalist. He wanted to try my X Vario back-to-back with the Fuji X-E2 and 18-55mm Fujinon he has been playing with for the past few weeks. I, in turn, was given the run of Don's extensive Aladdin's cave of Leica stuff. I chose a second-generation Tri-Elmar MATE and bolted it to my Monochrom. We ended up with a crazy set of pictures in an odd-ball zoom competition. You can read the full story here.

Conclusions? I won't spoil the story but Don has already gone out and bought a used X Vario.

Note the picture of Don Morley festooned with cameras at the 1972 Olympics. He was the press photographer who managed to get into the Village to cover the hostage taking and subsequent massacre. His photographs were used worldwide.

The remaining pictures are either from the X Vario or the Tri-Elmar/Monochrom combo. I thought better not post the Fuji comparisons.
