erl Posted July 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I needed to exercise my M7 so loaded it with Delta400, jumped a train to Melbourne and shot away. I felt a bit disappointed when I got home, thinking I had fallen short of expectation. Processed the film and started printing. When it comes to 'bringing a print to life' I must say film, with its grain, does wonders. My hard copies please me. The following web representations don't really do it for me, after seeing the prints, but I thought I would share anyway. Welcome, dear visitor! MarkP Posted July 20, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2014 Thanks for showing us this excellent series, in particular for showing me the Cahill Expressway by Jeffrey Smart. I first saw that painting on the cover of Peter Carey's "the Fat Man in History" when we studied it at school. Always one of my favourites - the painting, not the book . erl Posted July 20, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted July 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you all for appreciations and comments. If someone really enjoys an image it becomes worthwhile for the creators efforts. Mark, I wonder if you noticed the 'little man' in the lower left. My simple attempt at 'reflecting' Geoffrey Smart's style, with the simple structure as background for the girl. Of course, GS's work is superb. Very inspiring for photographer's too. Anjolie Posted July 21, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2014 I don't think you should be too disappointed. I think you've made some very fine captures. The old man wearing the headphones made me chuckle. Thanks for posting!

I also like Smart's very stark work.

stuny Posted July 21, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 21, 2014 A lovely set. #2 is in the style of Hopper, though I don't think it's one of his.

No. That's the Jeffrey Smart we've been commenting on above. fotografr Posted July 22, 2014 Share #13 Posted July 22, 2014 Really great set of images. I love the tonal quality, the texture in these film images. The last shot is particularly nice. The processing time and cost of both film and processing finally did me in. Now I'm sticking with the Monochrom.
erl Posted July 22, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted July 22, 2014 Brent, as an admirer of yours I am flattered that you like my images. Thank you. Processing costs and time for me have always been a given. Now retired (?), time is no issue and costs are still manageable as I do it all myself. Both colour and B&W. I am lucky in that I have a dedicated and well set up darkroom that does all things. My desktop system to accomm odate hybrid processing is also very good. As long as I can images 'coming', I am happy, albeit impatient. Hence, I lust after the Monochrom, but really can't afford the 'luxury'. I have enough fabulous film cameras to keep many people happy.
