pauledell Posted July 19, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2014 Kirk, A lovely shot with the "quiet light", the dreamy tones and the mood of the location. Paul
platypus Posted July 19, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 19, 2014 This is really lovely, subtle, delicate and unusual! I would like to be able to see it larger.

thompsonkirk Posted July 19, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted July 19, 2014 Hi, Dee - I've been printing MM shots @ 9x13.5, though of course they'd go much larger without deterioration in IQ. MM printing is a challenge because the files are so rich and offer so many possibilities. The fun and challenge with this one was to bring out all the highlight detail. fotografr Posted July 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is one incredibly beautiful photograph. I find shooting in fog very challenging but you've managed to hold just the right contrast without sacrificing the soft, dreamy tones. Great shot. If it was my image it would be on my wall big. platypus Posted July 20, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 20, 2014 Looked at this again today...it really is special! I agree with Brent: you've done an amazing pp job.
thompsonkirk Posted July 20, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted July 20, 2014 Thanks again! Re: pp: I've been using Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks that are sort of like the Zone System. They don't quite mesh with Ansel Adams' Zones, but they do let you pick out a narrow range of tones in a BW image for lightening/darkening. K
fotografr Posted July 22, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 22, 2014 I've just taken a look at Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks. I can see I'm going to have to go "back to school."
