David Sutherland Posted July 16, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's no longer possible to see an image through the viewfinder on my my Digilux 2 although there is an image on the LCD screen. I'm curious to know if this a common malfunction on this camera and if is it expensive to rectify? I've been told it will need to be sent to Leica in Germany for repair. Advertisement Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Hi David Sutherland, Take a look here Viewfinder malfunction. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2014 It is not a common failure and it is doubtful whether any repair would make sense financially.
David Sutherland Posted July 17, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 17, 2014 Jaap, I appreciate your comment. Any clues on rough cost (Euros) for this repair? (I know it will need to go to Leica/Germany). I don't like broken equipment.
jaapv Posted July 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2014 I would not have the faintest idea. If you are lucky a flex cable has worked loose and it would cost not too much. If the EVF electronics have failed it might be a different story, maybe even irrepairable. Your only choice is either send it to Leica and await the verdict or simply buy another one. williamgm Posted July 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 17, 2014 Could it be a fault with the EVF/LCD button on the back of the camera? Geoff
David Sutherland Posted July 17, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted July 17, 2014 The EVF/LCD button seems ok - thanks.
williamgm Posted July 17, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) It does look like a trip to Leica HQ will be required. I bought a mint Digilux 2 last May and it needed a new sensor & circuit board. I dealt with a very helpful lady. The Digilux is a wonderful camera, considering how old it is now, and has become a favourite of mine, even more than my much newer (non-Leica) camera! I hope you can have yours repaired, or find a replacement if necessary. Geoff
