Advertisement Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hi Gibbo, Take a look here Aldeburgh, Suffolk. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pauledell Posted July 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2014 Always an article of discussion, the sculptured metal makes an interesting subject. The composition, lighting, tones and clarity are excellent. Paul
stuny Posted July 15, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 15, 2014 Quite lovely, and similar to some metal sculpture currently on the median of Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

jcraf Posted July 15, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 15, 2014 Thanks for these, very nice. A lovely town in a beautiful part of the UK. The link with Britten makes it even more interesting.
Gibbo Posted July 15, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted July 15, 2014 It was our first visit to Suffolk and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice a county it is. I can see the appeal it would have had to Britten.
jcraf Posted July 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did you visit Orford Ness up the coast? Eerie, desolate place, site of some highly classified MoD testing on Nuke bomb mechanisms in the 50s. Very photogenic though, I thought.
Gibbo Posted July 15, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted July 15, 2014 We got as far as Orford Quay and realised we had run out of time for the day and it was also the last day of our holiday so it is on our list for our next visit. We could see some of the buildings though, in the distance.
jcraf Posted July 15, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 15, 2014 Apologies in advance - not trying to hijack your thread Lawrence; these are the 'Pagodas' at Orford where they tested the explosive mechanisms used to initiative the atomic weapons. The roofs were designed to collapse down if things went wrong. But I'm told no nuclear material was present in the weapons under test.........Like I said - eerie! Welcome, dear visitor!
