pauledell Posted July 13, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2014 Dee, A fine picture with the tones that fit the theme of deterioration. I fear you may be quite right about your assessment of our system, society and the house. The question is can they be restored? Paul
platypus Posted July 13, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 13, 2014 Thanks Paul....restoration of the system and/or society probably not, there seems to be a discernible downward spiral going on. The house is slated for a restoration program which will probably destroy all of it's amazing character, situation normal!
stuny Posted July 14, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 14, 2014 Quite lovely.
euston Posted July 14, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2014 What a good photo! The slightly unsettling perspective distortion (if that’s what it is) and the nostalgic toning set the scene. The derelict rocking chair, which in happier times would have been the very essence of contentment and well-being, now stands empty and abandoned. Even without your caption, it’s a photo that speaks volumes. It does to me at any rate. Excellent photography!

Echo63 Posted July 15, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lovely light, the colour and soft tones suggest a time gone by. As for the breakdown of society, dont get me started !
platypus Posted July 16, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted July 16, 2014 Echo63, thank you....nice comment about the photo, as for the rest: I agree!
samwells Posted July 16, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 16, 2014 Lovely shot, full of the ghosts of the past. (That Thonet rocking chair looks like it's worth restoring, tho…) cheers: Sam
stickan1 Posted July 18, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 18, 2014 There is a lot of atmosphere in this image, although rather sad. You have captured a disappearing world.
platypus Posted July 19, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted July 19, 2014 Stig, thanks. I'm glad to have been able to convey that feeling to you. The story of this house is a sad one, some things are just not made to translate into this century without loss.
