R80 summilux vs M75summilux sharpness

Leica Wetzlar has had my R80 now for three months, even after they reported it needed only a tune up. Hmm, a tune up for US$450! Perhaps shipping is very expensive through New Jersey?

The cost seems quite high to me, but I am powerless. Once I get my lens back (New Jersey seemed to believe I would have it yet in November), I will post how it is doing on my M240 and what relative value I got for $450.

BTW, Jepeli, when you focus the R80, via either LV or EVF, I find that 10X magnification is imperative... just like focusing the Noct. The two lenses have similar DOF (the R80 actually thinner).

My 75 Lux has been away for coding and CLA at Wetzlar for 8 weeks, I've been told by Leica Mayfair that it's due to come back next week. At a not insubstantial cost £414.13 (inc. VAT), I hope that newly calibrated for the M240 it'll be somewhat easier to nail focus, especially wide open.

I really hope that you guys will receive your lenses back at the scheduled time AND have everything fixed.

I've paid 327€ for the CLA for my R80 but I see no difference. My lens was in perfect condition before I've send it to Leica and it will be more better now but it's not visible in image quality/ sharpness vs my 75lux.

Best regards

Peter

Hi Peter, i've tried with the evf with magnification, altough its focus correctly the picture wont be sharp wide open at any chance, so its really d nature of d lens ... And about d DOF character to me its not exactly like d Noct's (0.95) character totaly (IMO) ... Hmm, maybe i will use d lens at 1.7 or 2.0 to get better (sharper) image while maintaining nice DOF.
