John Z. Goriup Posted July 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'd love an honest look-me-in-the-eye answer from someone in the know to this question: Why is the latest 35mm f1.4 Summilux Asph. FLE lens only available in black and not in the traditional satin chrome all-brass as well. Well, except the 25 that were produced for the scandinavian market………. Advertisement Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Hi John Z. Goriup, Take a look here Chrome 35mm FLE Asph. Summilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2014 Too expensive to make and too heavy to sell.
philipus Posted July 8, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 8, 2014 Personally I find the black one heavy enough (bordering on too heavy actually) but everyone is different. I didn't now of any special editions of this lens for the Scandinavian market. Where can I find information about this? Googling doesn't reveal anything (unless my google-fu is off, which is very possible). Philip
leica1215 Posted July 8, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2014 Leica also made for Leica store in Kyoto Japan alone with olive green MP as a set, I think Leica save this version for special occasion .....
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted July 8, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 8, 2014 Since Leica do make and sell the Nocti 0.95 in chrome (limited edition) and the Summilux 35 FLE in chrome (limited edition) they probably keep it to limited editions to preserve the uniqueness sorry for the OT but anybody know the actual weight of the Nocti in chrome and 35Lux FLE in chrome? I did come across a 28 cron in chrome as well A Nocti f1 in chrome or the APO50 in chrome - that would float my boat!
farnz Posted July 8, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 8, 2014 I can't look you in the eye but I'm staring hard at my computer screen now so if you do too we're about as close as it gets. Leica has presumably determined that a satin chrome 35/1.4 Summilux FLE wouldn't sell in large enough numbers to be commercially viable. You need to take into account the European environmental directives that now cause the manufacture of chromium items to be much more expensive than they used to. You might see one released in the future as a special edition like the chrome 50/0.95 Noctilux with the M9Ti or the 28/1.4 Summilux with the 100 years set. Pete. wattsy Posted July 8, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) sorry for the OT but anybody know the actual weight of the Nocti in chrome and 35Lux FLE in chrome? I did come across a 28 cron in chrome as well As far as I know, all three of these are silver anodised aluminium not chromed brass. The same weight.
