Advertisement Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Hi leica1215, Take a look here leather case tag for brand new lens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
algrove Posted June 30, 2014 Share #2 Â Posted June 30, 2014 Then I might suggest that those lenses were not perfectly new.
ayewing Posted June 30, 2014 Share #3 Â Posted June 30, 2014 No, I think that there has been a change. I bought a new Summilux 50mm Asph in 2011 and its leather pouch has the gold tag but a SEM 21mm I bought recently had no gold tag on the pouch. If Leica have switched to man made leather it certainly looks the same as the earlier pouch.

I have the same experience - a 21mm SEM from 2014 without a tag, and a 50mm ASPH from mid 2013 with the tag. However both pouches look (and more importantly, smell!) the same
algrove Posted July 1, 2014 Share #5 Â Posted July 1, 2014 It must be that a large batch of tags Leica recently received from their gold tags supplier did not pass their QC. So instead of not shipping that lens to your dealer they decided to ship it without defective tags. Â They must be stockpiling the tags for use with the new 28/1.4. leica1215 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Share #6 Â Posted July 1, 2014 Then I might suggest that those lenses were not perfectly new. have you guys has experience with refurbished lens? I check my lens before buying it, first of all the aperture ring feel a bit stiff feels like new, secondly I look at black finish see if it is used, ( when used and touch a lot it turns to a bit shiny than brand new) .. Â maybe there are some places can refurbish the lens to brand new cosmetic condition, any input?

Just last month I bought a 21mm SEM from Red Dot Cameras which was fresh from their stock including the outer plain white cardboard box - no tag. rramesh Posted July 1, 2014 Share #8 Â Posted July 1, 2014 I think Leica stopped using gold tags on wide angle lenses due to a remote possibility that they may cause red edges.
LeicaPassion Posted July 2, 2014 Share #9 Â Posted July 2, 2014 My 50 apo lens, which was received about a month ago, had the gold tag.
