Bluedun Posted June 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I love the strap mounting system....but, because there is no ring or pin hole to fix to, it is impossible to attach another other sort of strap to a Leica T. Does anyone know of anyone who has or will make a pin with a ring to fit in the strap socket on a T? Seems like a new product to sell to us T owners, and we do like a new product
Advertisement Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Hi Bluedun, Take a look here Leica T Strap Mount. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
barjohn Posted June 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2014 Take your neck strap or buy another one and using an exacto knife cut the strap off. You just purchased two lugs for $40 each. Leica is unlikely to sell the lug pins for less. Now you can put on your own strap as long as nylon or leather strap that attaches to lug is ⅜" in width.
IkarusJohn Posted June 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 22, 2014 I have the wrist strap, and it is just that little bit too short - I may well do the same with it.
spylaw4 Posted June 22, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 22, 2014 I agree, I tried the wrist strap on Friday and found it just that bit too short for comfort. Another #fail for Leica on the strap front. If you need a wrist strap it's cheaper to buy the wrist one and modify as barjohn says. Let's hope that either Leica or someone else gets the finger out and produces a fitting with an eye type lug quickly. IMO they would get a lot of sales.
barjohn Posted June 22, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 22, 2014 If you are buying strap to get the lugs buy the neck strap as that gives you two lugs for only $9 more than buying wrist strap and only getting one lug.
IkarusJohn Posted June 22, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 22, 2014 Now I just need to find a wrist strap of the right length that I like, and I can then destroy them both in the hope I get one that works for me.

barjohn Posted June 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2014 If you look at the thread that has photos of my set up you can see that I saved the lug covers and slid them over the ⅜" nylon straps. The straps thread through the lug easily and then I threaded the strap through my leather wrist strap and used a nylon buckle to fasten it. There are numerous ways to do it. You could use a split ring to hook onto the bar or you could use a leather portion that goes through and is sewn on afterwards. Below is the sequence starting with the lug on the end of the neck strap and progressing through to a completed wrist strap using just a nylon strap. Fancier is equally easy. Welcome, dear visitor! barjohn Posted June 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 23, 2014 As you can see, that could have been a leather strap or you could have put a split ring on it or a number of alternatives.
IkarusJohn Posted June 23, 2014 Share #10 Posted June 23, 2014 Much as I imagined, thanks John. I think I'll wait until I find (or make) a strap I really like. Cheers John
papimuzo Posted June 23, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 23, 2014 Thanks John, at last I could understand how is made these famous T mount strap!
Bluedun Posted June 25, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted June 25, 2014 Thanks for the help John. I am not sure I can bring myself to cut the brand new strap quite yet.... maybe next week.
barjohn Posted June 26, 2014 Share #13 Posted June 26, 2014 It took me over a week to reach that point myself; however, after you try and use the neck strap a few times in warm weather with just a T-shirt you realize that it is not a big loss. I will probably order a replacement just to have for the day I sell so I have a complete kit but not for actual use as it is not comfortable.
spylaw4 Posted June 26, 2014 Share #14 Posted June 26, 2014 I totally agree John, a real failure on Leica's part. Even the (heavier) extendable strap uses the same silicone material and while able to be made a bit longer is just as uncomfortable. Design coming before practicality! There's a facebook picture of Dr K using a T with an A&A strap. Although the detail is not too clear it looks to me as though the A&A's split ring is attached to the standard fitting. We need a pin with the usual eye lug - pronto!

spylaw4 Posted June 27, 2014 Share #16 Posted June 27, 2014 I'm not sure if this is allowed - either by Facebook rules (I'm not a member) or by the Forum rules as I don't know what camera was used to take the shot.

It was around the release time of the T
MichaelU Posted August 10, 2014 Share #19 Posted August 10, 2014 As I did not want to cut my original silicone strap, I tried to remove the bolts that connect the silicone by means of a small punch. It was a little tricky, but it worked finally. I have now my OP/Tech strap attached to my T.
